When travelling with a 2nd class ticket or pass, you must hold a class upgrade ticket if you wish to travel in 1st class. Both tickets must be shown during ticket inspections.
What else do you need to know?
* 1-day travelcard and multi-day travelcard: class upgrades are only available for single journeys.
- Multi-journey travelcard: 2nd-class travelcard holders making single journeys in 1st class must pay the supplement for each zone they travel through.
- Arcobaleno pass: 2nd class pass holders using 1st class for single journeys must purchase a class upgrade ticket, paying a supplement equal to the difference between the 1st class fare and the 2nd class fare for the corresponding zones.
1st class tickets are also valid for 2nd class travel on any routes that do not offer 1st class (without any right to a refund).

Reduced fares are available for under 16 (last day before birthday) for tickets and for under 25s (last day before birthday)for passes. Young Arcobaleno
pass holders must therefore purchase a full fare add-on ticket if they are aged 16 or over.
