Cross-border annual travelcard

The cross-border annual travelcard is the ideal solution for all those who regularly cross the border and would like to benefit from the convenience of a single ticket which for the canton of Ticino and the Lombardy region.

With the Arcobaleno cross-border annual travelcard, you can travel across the border between Italy and Switzerland with a single ticket, which is valid on all modes of transport on the Arcobaleno integrated fare network as well as on all Trenord regional and suburban trains.

The Arcobaleno cross-border annual travelcard is inexpensive and practical.

The cross-border annual travelcard is also personal. It can be issued to adults (from 25 years) in 1st or 2nd class as well as for young persons (from 6 to 25 years) in 2nd class and is valid for the selected zones. The price for the cross-border travelcard is calculated from the Arcobaleno zone prices (for the Swiss section) and the Italian fare per kilometre (for the section in Lombardy) added together.

Zone and time system

To make it easier to use public transport, the Arcobaleno integrated fare network utilises a zone and time system. This means that all modes of transport such as buses, trains, boats and funiculars can be used within the selected zones and validity period of the ticket. There are no time restrictions for weekly, monthly and annual travelcards.

You can purchase an annual travelcard at any time (the date can be selected freely). The start of validity does not have to coincide with the first day of the month.

The annual travelcard is personal. When purchasing, a passport photo is required, which is used for both the paper format or on the SwissPass. Tickets and travelcards purchased from the Arcobaleno integrated fare network are calculated in Swiss francs (CHF) only.

Where and how to buy

Cross-border annual travelcards for adults are available from the sales channels of the Arcobaleno integrated fare network and Trenord; travelcards for young persons can only be purchased from Arcobaleno.

Tickets and travelcards sold by the Arcobaleno integrated fare network are calculated in Swiss francs (CHF) only, and those sold by Trenord in euro (EUR) only.

Renewal

Cross-border annual travelcards can be renewed in the same way as when first purchasing the travelcard.

Class upgrade

If you have a ticket or travelcard for 2nd class, you can travel in 1st class by purchasing a class upgrade. Both tickets must be shown at the ticket check.

My annual travelcard is damaged. What should I do?

You should go to the sales counter where you purchased the annual travelcard with the damaged travelcard and a personal ID. After paying a fee of CHF 30, a new travelcard will be sent to your home address within 10 days. You will receive a so-called temporary travelcard for the interim period. The travelcard can be replaced multiple times.

If the monthly travelcard is loaded on the SwissPass, the card can be replaced as often as needed after paying the respective fee of CHF 30, according to T600 clause 200.1.

Can I add one or more zones to my annual travelcard?

It is possible to add zones. To do this, you must return your old travelcard and have a new one issued.

Can I deposit my annual travelcard?

Deposit is not possible.
