Cross-border monthly travelcard

The cross-border monthly travelcard is the ideal solution for all those who regularly cross the border and would like to benefit from the convenience of a single ticket.

With the Arcobaleno cross-border monthly travelcard, you can travel across the border between Italy and Switzerland with a single ticket, which is valid on all modes of transport on the Arcobaleno integrated fare network as well as on all Trenord regional and suburban trains.

The cross-border monthly travelcard is personal. It can be issued to adults (from 25 years) in 1st or 2nd class as well as for young persons (from 6 to 25 years) in 2nd class and is valid for the selected zones. The price for the cross-border travelcard is calculated using the Arcobaleno zone prices (for the Swiss section) and the Italian fare per kilometre (for the section in Lombardy) added together. The Arcobaleno cross-border monthly travelcard is available for the SwissPass or in paper format.

Where and how to buy

Cross-border monthly travelcards for adults are available from the sales channels of the Arcobaleno integrated fare network and Trenord; travelcards for young persons can only be purchased from Arcobaleno.

Tickets and travelcards sold by the Arcobaleno integrated fare network are calculated in Swiss francs (CHF) only, and those sold by Trenord in euro (EUR) only.

Further information

You can purchase a monthly travelcard at any time (the date can be selected freely). The start of validity does not have to coincide with the first day of the month.

The monthly travelcard is personal. When purchasing, a passport photo is required, which is used for both the paper format or on the SwissPass.

*Young persons’ fare: for journeys in 2nd class only for young persons from 6 to 25 years.

Renewal

The monthly travelcards on the SwissPass are renewed at authorised sales counters and on the following numbers: PostBus, advice and sales on 0840 852 852 or via SBB Contact Center, advice and sales, 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min., 24 hours); payment by credit card.

It is also possible to renew at sbb.ch/purchase.

Travelcards in paper format can either be renewed at the sales counters or at ticket machines and directly with drivers of regional buses. Renewal with the issuing transport companies is recommended.

Class upgrade

If you have a ticket or travelcard for 2nd class, you can travel in 1st class by purchasing a class upgrade. Both tickets must be shown at the ticket check.
